28 Weeks - Third Trimester!

Third trimester! This time, 27-30-ish weeks, is typically a big growth period for the babies and I'm HUNGRY ALL THE TIME. It's actually annoying. Someone needs to park me at a buffet all day. One where you can lay down sometimes. I think that could be a thing even for non-pregnant people. Who's with me?

Last week one of my "things I miss" was jogging. I tried this week to jog in the deepest part of a pool where I could stand. Aaand it still hurt. Not meant to be :-)

Silver lining time: while the pressure of two heads pressing downwards creates many troubles for me, it's really pretty awesome that they are both vertex and appear to be staying that way. Would love thoughts, prayers, good wishes that they keep on that path. Then we can have as healthy and happy and natural a birth as possible!

27 Weeks

"Artistic" shadows. You like?

Kurt just took the GRE today and did great, and I sent in a brief I've been working on with a 60 page appendix...we feel free! Babies are good as per usual, mommy is slow but dealing as per usual. Next week marks the start of my third trimester. We're so getting impatient to meet these little girls. And I'm getting impatient to be a normal human. Beer, jogging, lifting, cleaning more than 5 minutes at a time, fitting into shoes...yes, it will be nice. As will having our little ones here to clean up after :-) (drink a beer after?)

26 Weeks - double digits to go

Another week another pound (or so). 98 days to go - we're both so excited to meet them. I can't believe we're down to double digits. Time has gone so fast!!!

We had another ultrasound on Monday. Everything is looking good, and they confirmed it was two girls. No awkward revelations to a son that we thought he was a girl at first, yay!

They estimated the weights - Twin A 1 lb 13 oz, Twin B 1 lb 10 oz. That's 52nd and 40th percentile, which, assuming you know me because you're reading my boring mommy blog, I'm not thrilled about. I've been working on getting my protein intake higher, so hopefully I can report higher percentiles after our ultrasound next month. And no, just because I'm short and Kurt is average doesn't mean they should be littler babies necessarily :-)

I put together the pictures they gave us for this week so you can kind of see the girls together (Twin A on top, Twin B on the bottom):
The tech called Twin A the show-off because she always seems to be posing for pictures. Twin B is squirmy and harder to catch.

Here's a picture from a family wedding earlier this summer with Kurt and I comparing bellies (Kurt is pushing his out as much as possible, I'm au naturel). I was at 13 weeks.

I can't believe I was that small, and that at the time I thought I was big!! I can't even fit into the dress I was wearing at the time, which is a maternity dress.

We'll do an update of this picture sometime soon for giggles.

25 Weeks

The girls are eggplants this week, or if you prefer, rutabagas. So big! My doctor said I'm measuring 31 weeks (i.e., same size as a singleton mom at 31 weeks). That's typical for twins, measuring about 6 weeks ahead. Thus I'm basically in my third trimester, aches and pains wise. Weeeeee :-)

I just had my glucose tolerance and hemoglobin tests and I'm good so far - enough iron, no gestational diabetes. And the sweet drink you have to drink for the glucose test wasn't really bad at all. I've heard some women really complain about it.

We had our first Bradley Method class last night (yes, during the Packer game...one of the dads in class is British so not as much complaining about missing it as I had thought there'd be). It's great! Me being a dork and all, I'm really excited to have lots of homework. We have to read from different books and handouts and do exercises and monitor our diets. Kurt is less thrilled :-)

But already a technique I learned from class helped me sleep through the night last night for the first time in a couple weeks. Awesome! I'm feeling excited and optimistic about having these two eggplants naturally.

Have a lovely weekend!

24 Weeks - 6 Months!

Again a picture with no real update to share. All I can say is this BETTER be the last hot day of summer. It's brutal. And to think I used to enjoy days like this...

P.S. Thanks to everyone who has made their predictions at the baby pool. If you haven't, do it! The range of responses is really fun so far. I'll share the results at some point before the girls arrive so everyone can enjoy. Link to the right ---->
