6 Month Stats and Milestones

Freya has regained the lead in weight! And retained her lead in length and head size. Their 6 month checkup was otherwise great. The doctor said they have great muscle tone and are hitting all their milestones.

Freya
Length: 26.3" (67%)
Weight: 15lbs 3oz (33%)
Head Circumference: 42.4cm (55%)

Signe
Length: 26" (53%)
Weight: 14 lbs 15 oz (28%)
Head Circumference: 40.9cm (16%)

In the few days since I posted, actually a lot has happened! Signe's babbling suddenly blossomed in the past, seriously, two days. She's all "buh buh buh" "ah dah ah dah ah dah" etc. They're both sitting better and better, noticeably better every day. It's all so amazing.

And in "Alli regaining her sanity bit by bit" news...the girls aren't nursing at night anymore!!! Yes, what a milestone. The doctor advised that around 6 months they are ready to go all night without eating, and that nursing at night is really just habit. That very night I stopped nursing them at night, just gave them a paci or cuddled them a bit. And they were fine! Ohhh it feels good let me tell you. The very thought of it. I might, maybe, get 8 hours of sleep in a row sometime in the near future, once they get used to the new schedule. I never thought I could go 6 months without 8 solid hours of sleep in a row ever. I did it, I adapted, I'm proud of myself for it. But boy, I sure would like to get it again.

I also got to visit Charles, the very cute and sweet new son of our friends Mark and Rebecca. Cradling him reminded me how far our girls have come. I heard lots of times "you'll miss this" regarding the newborn stage, and I do get it now. I didn't before. It's so crazy to live it, and really nutso when you have two newborns, but yeah, it all came rushing back when I held the week-old baby. NOT to say I am ready, or necessarily ever will be, for another of my own. Much easier to cuddle, then give back :-)

Holding him reminded me that oh, I haven't always been able to carry a girl on a hip and get stuff done or carry a girl on each hip. I haven't always been treated to a smile from each one every single time I so much as smile or talk to them. I LOVE 6 MONTHS!!! (Sorry Mark and Rebecca and other new parents...you'll be here eventually too. In my experience, it will feel like about 3 days have passed from birth to now. And maybe you'll be those people who love the newborn stage!)

Just a few pictures of fun and games around the Pedersen household, mostly in sequences to demonstrate the fun:

Tissue paper is so fun! Oh and a terrible, terrible baby toy. Bad mommy. Bits of maroon paper everywhere...

They each rolled over from their backs to play together with the blocks

Freya's peeking, Signe's too busy to be bothered

Knocked the box away, uh oh!

Compare this and the one below those who aren't so sure on how different they are ;-)

Everything is a teether

They're sitting up so well! Boppys just there for fall protection mostly

Sharing the ring tower. They both figured it out within minutes of setting eyes on it, my little smarties. Freya can get the top ring and sometimes the next one off by using her hands. Signe likes to knock the whole thing over and have them all crash off.

Horsey ride x2
