Parenting Fail

We fail as proper parents in this household quite often. Whether it's forgetting to put pants on babies, accidentally running into them (that's an Alli-only fail), calling them by the wrong name, and on and on, it happens frequently. And then we had the icicle incident.

Aunt Kris got them new winter coats which we are so thankful for because their old ones were 1) more like autumn jackets and 2) getting really small. We went on an expedition outside to try them out, strolling to the school a block away. They started walking around and saw icicles on the school. Kurt broke a couple off and handed them over. I took pictures, we both smiled at them holding them and sucking on them. And suddenly it hits us. They are holding them for waaaay too long. They start crying. We take the icicles away. They cry harder and harder. We get them bundled up in the stroller, Signe goes a little zombie and Freya cries. We get home, all cuddle up, put their hands against our skin, etc. After about half an hour everyone is warm and happy again.

Lesson learned. Babies do not understand cause and effect as it relates to ice and skin. Their hands started hurting, they started getting upset but did not know to drop the ice. You live you learn...still we felt very bad.

Cute moment. Also, you can just see the photo of her behind her in a very similar pose, 11 months ago :-)

My climbers continue to find new peaks to conquer

They love the big people water bottles much more than their own

Kids this age may not really talk but they communicate their needs pretty clearly...

Got what she wanted without descending from her throne :-)

Fun on the truck

Look at Freya here

And here. Cracks me up.

The perspective makes it even bigger

A little diaper dance party

Expedition outside, the start of the icicle fiasco.

So cute right? Right...
